Follow Up And Follow Through Are Simple Fundamentals That Make You Successful As An Entrepreneur

followers uk up and follow through are the two things that separate success and mediocrity. Most of us glance over them looking for the "secret" to success. The 'Trick'. The 'Technique'. The magic skill set that will make us irresistible and successful. This article will touch on these basic but critical concepts.

Many of my mentors, Mark Hughes and Jim Rohn among them, and many other coaches, trainers and motivators often repeat the mantra "The Fortune Is In The Follow Up".

How important is it to understand this? Making the transition from wage earner to entrepreneur hinges on the understanding that follow-up and follow through are the building blocks of personal success.

As part of a company or organization we're often in a system. The analogy of an auto assembly line best illustrates this. As the vehicle passes our station we have a task to perform. We drive a few screws, attach a part or maybe adjust one thing or another. After the vehicle spends a few minutes in our realm of influence it moves on to someone else's station for their part of the process. We need only concern ourselves with the task at hand.

We don't orchestrate this process and it's not up to us to make sure that the hands that touch the process after us do their thing according to the plan.

Making the transition to entrepreneur requires expanding your vision to encompass the entire process. You have to take responsibility from cradle to grave. The two things you must understand and must always strive to master are follow-up and follow through.followers uk

Nothing happens until a sale is made. Nothing. Ever. More and more that has become my personal mantra and foundation of my coaching philosophy. Everything else is superfluous if you don't understand that the first step is getting someone willing to make the fair exchange between what you have and what they are willing to give up to get it.

Once that step is accomplished you are on your way. In fact, if you'll indulge me in another analogy, it's like the effort required to get into space. For example, the shuttle uses a disproportionate amount of fuel to break earth's gravity compared to what it requires to stay in orbit. Ironically, it uses no fuel at all to return to earth - think about that as a business analogy.

The same applies to making that first sale with a new customer. The cost of prospecting and acquiring the lead and the energy used to close the first sale is extraordinary when compared to what it takes to get a reorder. The key is follow-up. Depending on the product or service you offer you should have a plan to follow-up.

Think about the businesses you enjoy the most. What is it that makes them stand out? Usually it's superior customer service. You want to keep in touch and reinforce their great choice to use you to solve their need. After the initial sales process you should have a plan to touch them over and over.

If you are not delivering product at a point purchase your first opportunity is to follow up on the delivery. Most of my business is done by shipping directly from the manufacturer to the customer. I have two built-in opportunities to touch my customer: By notifying them when the products will or has shipped and then by confirming that they received it.followers uk

I'm involved in the wellness industry and I know that people generally "feel" my products within the first 24 hours. I then know that they have very measurable results in three days. My products require a change in routine and I also know that most people, left to their own devices, will revert to whatever comfortable habits they had before I inspired them with the vision of the benefits of better nutrition.

Based on this I know to plan to follow-up in 24 hours and again in three days. I follow up again in 7 days and at that time I can go over their results, which reinforces their decision to do business with me, and ask them who they know that would like to have similar results. Sharing with their friends reinforces their decision to purchase from me and it creates more business opportunities for me and possibly the right atmosphere to invite them to my business as a distributor.

Follow Through

Second to followers uk up is follow through. The difference is subtle but is basically related to the biggest challenge faced by that person making the change from wage earner to business ower which is that many of us suffer from the delusion that thinking about doing something is the same as doing something.

If you find that you have a lot of great ideas and plans but you aren't getting any results, don't feel bad. This is common and happens to most of us. It's easy to plan and not so easy to get ourselves to execute, to follow through, as it were.followers uk

Don't over extend. If 100 fliers will work, then 1000 will be fantastic, right? Maybe on the whiteboard, but in real life extending yourself beyond what you can really do, whether physical effort or financial commitment, will lead to exhaustion or bankruptcy and either one will not support your long-term goals. Don't be afraid to start with modest goals when it comes to the mechanics of your business.

Don't get distracted. Once you have figured out what you want to do and have found a mentor, coach or mastermind to help you accomplish it, don't get distracted. This also happens to most of us and it's the "grass is always greener" syndrome. Whether it's jumping to another marketing system or jumping to another business, it will effectively cancel out your efforts destroy your morale.
